Have you’ve been to gaming blogs or YouTube lately and have seen all of these new videos and content about “Spore”? But you wonder, what is it? It’s been talked about for the past couple of years and it will come soon.

Spore is a multi-genre “massively single-player online game” under development by Maxis and designed by Will Wright. It allows a player to control the evolution of a species from its beginnings as a unicellular organism, through development as an intelligent and social creature, to interstellar exploration as a spacefaring culture. It has drawn wide attention for its massive scope, and its use of open-ended gameplay and procedural generation.

The full version of the game is due to be released on September 5, 2008 in Europe, and September 7, 2008 in North America and other territories. Spore will also be available for direct download from Electronic Arts on September 7.

Basically Spore is a online single player game created by Maxis and can be currently played on Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. You can download a trial from the Spore web site or just buy it from the stores, it’s just about $10. You can create a lot creatures and control the evolution from the creature’s beginning to end. Currently only the “Spore Creature Creator” has been released. A user on the Mushiku Reach blogs has posted about a special Spore feature, one where creatures can be exported and imported as a PNG file, if you would like to read his post you can click this link.

All I can say is just be patient, the release is almost here (about four months to be exact). :)
